Streets of New York

Streets of New York is a café that has its roots in Arizona, but one has found its way to the northwest corner of Las Vegas. Tucked in a quiet but developing shopping area, the café has become increasingly popular with locals, and it’s not uncommon to find it packed, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. It is intimate but open with a couple of big screen televisions that are turned on during sporting events and windows in the front of the restaurant. The casual atmosphere and kid-friendly menu makes this a great place to dine with the family.

The menu offers an array of sandwiches, pizza and other Italian food, all of which are fresh and made to order but delivered quickly to the table. Pizza selections range from standard cheese and pepperoni to specialty options available in a variety of sizes while classic subs—both hot and cold—come with a choice of sides (we like the French fries) and are large enough to take home leftovers. Of course, as an Italian joint offering light fare, there are several pasta plates available as well. Portions are large enough to leave guests full, but if you’re a light eater, plan on taking extras home with you.

Given the size of the meals, prices at Streets of New York are definitely reasonable (probably, in part, due to its distance from the Las Vegas Strip). Sandwiches and pasta dishes average $7.00-$11.00. Choose from a selection of beers (both on tap and in bottles) for $3.00-$5.00 each. If you’re more of a wine drinker, don’t worry: Street of New York also has a plentiful selection of wines as well. Regardless of your dining and beverage choices, it is more than possible to enjoy a dinner for two for less than $40.00.

During the lunch hours, take advantage of an abbreviated menu. Delivery and pick-up options are also available.

In addition to having truly delicious food, it’s worth noting that the staff is friendly, courteous, efficient and knowledgeable about the menu and café. Regardless of how busy it might be, staff is quick to bus tables after people leave, so guests never have to wait too long to be seated. In addition, the kitchen staff is definitely on top of the turn over, and meals are prepared and served soon after being ordered. It’s not the kind of place where you find yourself contemplating how long it’s been since you’ve ordered but are rather quite surprised that your meal is practically waiting for you immediately after ordering.

Though not a local restaurant per se since there are others located in Arizona, the Las Vegas-based Streets of New York is the only one of its kind and is very much considered a local joint. Combine the local love with the delicious fare and great prices, and the Streets of New York becomes the kind of place you want to eat at over and over again.
