Encore Las Vegas

Though it sits in the shadow of its bigger sister, Wynn Las Vegas, both in size and name recognition, Encore Las Vegas has managed to find its own place among the many Las Vegas hotels. Located adjacent to the Wynn, Encore is often skipped over by visitors to Sin City, but those who stop will find an intimate but sophisticated atmosphere decorated with bold colors and vibrant designs. Whether you book a stay at Wynn or Encore, you are welcome to take advantage of the amenities available at both properties.

A Little History

Wynn was established before Encore Las Vegas, which was opened to the public on December 22, 2008. Though it may seem like simply an extension of Wynn Las Vegas, the resort fully supports itself with several restaurants, bars, nightclubs and gaming opportunities. As noted in the company’s overview of the property, “the environment is both uniquely Wynn and distinctly Encore.”

Location

Address: 3121 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas

Hotels/Resorts Located Nearby: Encore’s sister property, Wynn, is connected to the resort by a breezeway near the theaters. Palazzo is the nearest resort to the south. The Fashion Show Mall is across the street from the Wynn and Encore, and to the south of that is Treasure Island.

Rooms and Suites

Encore has 2,034 suites, which range from 700 square feet for the standard suite to 5,800 square feet for the tower suite. Those who book accommodations in the Encore Tower Suites are attended to by a team of VIP concierge; there is also a private entrance to this portion of the resort. Encore’s Tower Suites have been awarded the Forbes Five Star award (formerly the Mobil Five Star).

All suites at Encore are outfitted with simplicity and style.

General Prices

Encore is not for the budget traveler. When you stay at this Las Vegas resort, you are paying for quality accommodations and customer service. Room rates are competitive with those you’ll find at Wynn, starting at about $200.00 per night and potentially more than doubling in price over holidays, weekends and busier seasons.

The Casino

Encore’s casino is not nearly as large as others that you’ll find on the Las Vegas Strip, but it still offers all of the gaming opportunities you might be looking for. Instead of being bright and flashy, this casino is decorated with columns, canopies and draperies that provide a different kind of gaming atmosphere. It is also much calmer than other casinos.

Guests will find 95 table games and 860 slot machines. If you’re lounging poolside, take advantage of the five tables in the island gaming area. The high-limit gambling area is located on the west side of the casino floor. One thing lacking at Encore is a good sports book. Though there is one in the casino, it is small and located in the center of the floor. Sports fans are better off heading to Wynn for sports betting.

Restaurants

Whether you’re pining for casual chow or prefer something a little more upscale, most people will find something of interest among Encore’s dining choices. For several more options, just walk a few more steps to the Wynn, which has an even larger selection of restaurants and cafes.

Nightlife

Though Encore Las Vegas isn’t the largest hotel on the Strip, it certainly doesn’t lack anything when it comes to nighttime entertainment. In addition to several bars and lounges, Encore is home to two of the most popular nightclubs in all of Las Vegas.

Entertainment

You may be too busy partying the night away to realize that one of the biggest acts in all of Las Vegas is performing right down the hallway. The Encore Theatre is where Garth Brooks performs his shows, and, in addition to his fairly regular performances, there are other acts that come and go in this space. For more entertainment options, pop on over to Wynn for one of the most spectacular aquatic acrobatic shows in the city.

Things to Do

The Encore Beach Club is a popular attraction during the summer months, and another pool (open only to guests at the resort) is open year round. Though not known for its huge selection of shopping opportunities, there are a few shops in the Esplanade. Encore also has a spa, fitness center and salon.

Ideal Visitors

As one of the nicer hotels in Las Vegas, Encore is ideal for adults, especially those in town on a romantic getaway. It is more intimate and romantic than other resorts on the Strip, which gives it sort of a sexy appeal. You pay for what you get.

This resort is packed with nightlife, and families will need to look elsewhere to keep the kids entertained.

Travel Tips

  • You can access Encore easily from either the Encore or Wynn parking garage, though they can be a bit of a hassle to access. If you’re staying at the resort, park here because the garage has 24-hour security. Those just visiting Encore Las Vegas may want to consider parking at the Fashion Show Mall located off of Spring Mountain Road on the other side of Las Vegas Boulevard. If you do decide to park in the garage, watch for people in the crosswalks.
  • Encore has the atmosphere of Wynn minus the crowds. Seek it out if you need a break from the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas.
  • The amenities and facilities of Encore are conveniently located around the perimeter of the resort’s casino floor, which makes everything particularly easy to find.
  • Though you don’t have to dress up to enjoy Encore, it is a classy property so consider wearing more than just ratty shorts and a t-shirt, even during the day.
